Gift Certificate
A quick solution is a gift certificate at his favorite fishing store. Most mom and pop type stores will sell you gift certificates in any amount you want, so you can vary the amount you spend. And he gets exactly what he wants since he is the one picking it out. Some of the bigger stores as well as online and mail order places also offer gift certificates. I got two gift certificates for retirement presents to my favorite fishing store here in Griffin, Berry's Sporting Goods, and am really looking forward to spending them!
Fishing Music
I suggested a copy of the Dorados' CD "Papa Was A Fishing Man" for a Christmas gift last year and it is a good one. They are out with a new CD just in time for Fathers Day called "Fishin' Train." It has a beat that is sure to be enjoyed by any fisherman. I especially liked the songs "Waitin' on a Cat" and "Too Much Beer Not Enough Bait." The songs are hard for me to place, with a Cajun sound from a fiddle and accordian, country with guitar and drums and even some bluegrass from the banjo. It is a good combination of sounds. These CDs are available from Amazon.com
Fishing Books
Many books are on the market and they are all good. I especially recommend Kevin Dalmier's "Fishing Georgia" (buy direct) to anyone interested in the different kinds of fish. Kevin is a state biologists and the first half the book is filled with great info on the different species of fish in Georgia.
Also good is "An Outdoor State Of Mind," a collection of Richard Simms outdoor columns.
Jig Heads
Some Tip Up jig heads for jig head worm fishing would be nice. I really like these heads.
Unusual Fishing Items
The Boomerang Fishing Pro promises to be a hit with fishermen. It is from Alabama inventor Rodney Long who came up with the EZKnot tool. His new product will make a lure dance in one place as long as you want it to, and tests have shown it to be a bass killer. Either it or some EZKnot Tool would also be good gifts.
Choose one of these items or something else for your father. But the best gift of all would be to go fishing with him, take the day to spend somewhere on the water, relaxing and enjoying being with each other!
