What Are the Fish Doing On Carters Lake Today?

Louie says: "I caught this fish on a drop-shot worm and 4 POUND LINE today!!! That was awesome, the fish weighed 4.8, a trophy spot. The fish was suspended up on a hump just off the channel...."

The lake level is basically full, the water temps ranging from 52-55, and the clarity is great throughout the lake/river. Looks like we have some heavy thunderstorms heading our way so with warm rains and high's in the low 70's the rest of the week, I'm looking for 60 degree water by the weekend.

The bite has been good as of late. I've been averaging 12-15 fish days throughout the winter and we're holding steady on numbers, but I expect that to start creeping up soon enough.

For now, Spot Sticker Jigheads rigged w/ Big Bite worms have been producing best, I'm fishing everything from brush, to bluffs, to humps, with the jigheads. Anything from 20ft-50ft and I'm catching some here and there.

As we get in to March look for the power fishing to really start taking over. Crankbaits, Spinnerbaits, Jerkbaits, and Swimbaits will all produce big fish in March and I'm thinking this may be the best March we've had in years. If you like to cast and wind, this is your time to start getting out.
