After last week's Bassmaster Tour event at Missouri's Table Rock Reservoir, the final event in the short 2005 Bassmaster Tour season, several changes occur at the top of the State Farm World Rankings.
> Biggest of all is Greg "the Hack Attack" Hackney taking over the No. 1 slot. Hackney's win at Table Rock was his first tour-level win, so it's fitting that that is what launches him into the top spot in the world.
> Marty Stone, the runner-up in the Bassmaster Angler of the Year (AOY) race, is now No. 2 in the world, 8 points and change behind Hackney. Stone finished 13th at Table Rock, his third Top 20 in an outstanding Bassmaster Tour season.
> Bassmaster AOY winner Aaron Martens jumps up two spots to 3rd in the world after finishing 2nd at Table Rock. (Remember that Martens gets no extra points for being the Bassmaster AOY. That would be redundant because the finishes that contributed to his AOY points are already incorporated into his World Rank.)
> A 70th at Table Rock helps the former No. 1 angler, Skeet Reese, fall three spots to 4th.
> The one and only Kevin VanDam finished 4th at Table Rock, his third Top 20 in a row and his 4th this season. He climbs back up two spots to 5th in the world. His Guntersville (74th) and Harris Chain (98th) finishes this year are still weighing him down. > An 81st at Table Rock helps David Walker drop two spots to 6th in the world.
> Missouri's Mark Tucker had a 38th at Table Rock and drops one place to 7th.
> A 14th at Table Rock, his third Top 20 of the year, helps Terry Scroggins climb one spot to 8th in the world.
> Dean Rojas didn't have a good finish at Table Rock (52nd), but moves up three spots to 9th in the world. Rojas also hasn't had a great year so far. It looks he's being held up in the rankings by his good 2004.
> A 3rd at Table Rock helps Brent Chapman get back into the Top 10 at 10th.
Other Notable Movement
> A 9th at Table Rock, a 21st at Norman and dropping a terrible finish from 2 years ago help Stacey King jump up nine spots to 13th in the world.
> Dave Lefebre isn't fishing BASS this year, but adds and drops vs. other anglers helps him leap up 12 spots to 14th in the world. Ditto for FLW Tour pro Matt Herren, who moves up eight spots into 20th.
> Oklahoma's Jeff Kriet has had three Top 20s in a row, four on the year, and moves up 10 spots into 21st.
> An 11th at Table Rock helps Jay Yelas jump 10 places to finish the season at 24th in the world.
> A 139th at T-Rock caps an uncharacteristically terrible Bassmaster Tour season for Kelly Jordon. He falls 13 spots to 28th in the world.
> Ditto for Gerald Swindle. A 131st at Table Rock was his worst finish so far, and his third below-100th finish in a row. He falls 17 spots to 38th in the world.
> Mark Davis climbs in the rankings for the first time this year. His 35th at Table Rock was his best finish this season, and he moves up thee spots to 40th in the world.
Note: As a reminder, the results of Bassmaster Elite 50 events are not included in the State Farm World Rankings. That is largely because a significant portion of the field qualifies through BASS's all-time money earnings list. Since all World Rankings are performance-based, inclusion of the E50 results would thus skew the rankings in a way that does not reflect current tour-level performance. In any case, the E50s are disappearing after this year.
