The national Fujifilm, Frito-Lay/Pepsi and Southwest Airlines contests are special events wrapped into more than 700 Kids All-American Fishing Derbies held around the country every year with the help of local volunteers. Hooked on Fishing International (HOFI) announced recently it is conducting a national search for volunteer adult groups, and public or private organizations, that want to do something special for young people.
In previous years hosting organizations have included state fish and game departments, the U.S. Forest Service, parks and recreation departments, chambers of commerce, YMCAs, fishing clubs, scouting groups, and civic and service organizations such as the Optimists, Lions, Kiwanis, and Elks.
Qualified organizations can order a kit that includes everything they need to put on a local fishing derby, even prizes. Organizations can request an application or additional information on the HOFI web site, www.kids-fishing.com., or request an application by emailing info@kids-fishing.com or by writing Hooked On Fishing International, P O Box 660, Ketchum, OK 74349. Requests must be received before December 15, 2001 for hosting a derby in 2002.
