SPORT DESCRIPTIONS

FISHING

1. Fly Fishing Tournament - 12 competitors are stationed on individual beats of a one-half mile section of the Ausable River with a three-hour window to catch the largest fish. 2. Bass Fishing - In this two-day tournament 11 fishermen search for the largest fish. Only five fishermen advance to the second day of competition, with the highest five-fish catch weight winning.

SPORTING DOGS

1. Agility (Small - 10 dogs and Large - 20) dogs maneuver an obstacle-filled course, complete with tunnels, jumps and slides, racing for the best time and the fewest amount of faults. 2. Big Air - 12 dogs fly over Mirror Lake, measured from the hind quarters, vying for the longest jump from the end of a dock. 3. Flyball - Eight teams of six dogs - four race, two are alternates - compete in a complex relay race, judged on time and accuracy. 4. Retriever Trials - 12 dogs compete in a timedtraditional "bird" fetching event. The dog with the lowest score - fewest mistakes - wins.

TARGET SPORTS

1. Archery - 16 competitors shoot at six different target positions, including William Tell, Thread the Needle and Bermuda Triangle, striving for a total possible score of 100. 2. Rifle Targets - 16 competitors shoot 15 targets at two different ranges. The most targets hit before the time limit wins. 3. Shotgun Grid - 16 competitors shoot clay targets launched in four different patterns for a preliminary and a final round.

TIMBER SPORTS

1. Boom Run - Eight male and eight female competitors race head-to-head across a series of logs chained together and placed in the water. The first competitor to run across the series of logs and back wins.  2. Endurance - 16 male and eight female competitors participate in three grueling events: the Underhand Chop and the Standing Chop. and finish with the Single Buck. The competitor with the lowest time wins. 3. Hot Saw - Using modified chain saws, 10 competitors race to make three cuts on a horizontal log in a down-up-down sequence. 4. Log Rolling- Eight male and eight female competitors battle against each other to see who can stay out of the water and a top the log longest. 5. Speed Climbing - 12 competitors race head-to-head to the top of a 65-ft. pole and freefall every 20 feet until they reach ground. 6. Team Relay - 32 male and eight female competitors saw and chop their way around various stations, including the Stock Saw and the Underhand Chop. Teams consist of one female and three male competitors. 7. Tree Topping - 12 competitors strive head-to-head to ascend a 65-foot tree and saw a disc of wood from the top in the shortest amount of time. 8. Springboard - 16 competitors use a long-tongued springboard to scale an upright log, chop half of the log, climb back down, and ascend the other side. ESPN-PR
