I'm submitting to you our poem entitled GONE FISHING WITH DAD that the publishers of In Fisherman published in February, 1992. Pre-Season Edition.
I was very proud they selected this potential poem to run on the very same page featuring a picture of the publisher/editor and a separate picture of the then President George Bush.
President Bush was holding a fish with the suggestion underneath to "write your own caption". I sent a copy to President Bush requesting him to autograph. He went one step further and also captioned it with ....CHUCK HANN .....A WHOPPER.... GEORGE BUSH......I now proudly display this in a frame on a wall in my home.
Ronnie, this is especially meaningful to me since the poem was inspired as a dedication to my recently deceased father at the time it was written. Dad was an inspiration to many for his right arm had been amputated at the shoulder when he was only 21 years old. He was quite a successful commercial fisherman and crabtrapper on the Indian River on the East Coast of Florida.
I respectfully submit for publication on your website/newsletter/etc. if it will cause you no conflicts of interest from above info of its previous publication. I see no problem on my part since Nell & I are the original authors .
You have our permission for publication with the request I receive an e-mail where/when published.
The only thing I regretted I omitted is where I said "Every BOY in this old world.....I wish I would have injected "Every BOY and GIRL" ...which I now have added. I understand as an author it is my right to do.
