LAKE LEVEL: 562.5 WATER CLARITY: GOOD SURFACE TEMP.: 88*F

CRAPPIE: Crappie fishing is done here for the most part.A few can still be caught at night under lights on channel drops using live bait.

BASS: Bass fishing is starting to pick up as they come off the bed.Top water baits work good early.Crankbaits are very productive shallow running. As the water warms this will change. Most productive spots are points.During mid-day worms or lizards are productive.

BREAM: Weiss Lake is not known for its large bream. This year has been the exception. They are catching some pretty nice bream around docks, grassbeds and rocks.A lot of decent size bream have come out of open water 10"-12" deep. What few shell crackers we have are spawning now.Wax worms continue to be the best bait to use.

CATFISH: Large numbers of catfish are being caught.Anywhere from 1 to 40 lbs.If you like to catfish bring your bones on. Fish channel edges and drops.Commercial catfish bait and chicken livers or cut shad and the old basic night crawlers are working well.

STRIPE/WHITE BASS: Stripe activity is starting to pick up along with the white bass.A lot of white bass in the jumps in the afternoon. They are easily found by riding around and looking for the jumps. The largest stripe are being caught after dark using live shad.

CARP: When you mention the word "carp" most everyone turns their noses up.I am not suggesting that you bring them home to your grandmothers but, it is a lot of fun to put kids on a school of 10-20lb fish and watch the kids go crazy.Try it you will like it!! Try using whole kernel corn that you buy at the feed store.Boil 1/2 lb of corn with 2 packs of Kool-Aid (any flavor works).Spread it around on a shallow flat.Come back the next day and spread just a little bit to "tease" them.Use the same corn to fish with and plant both feet to set the hook.

    GOOD FISHING TO ALL!!
