Weekend X South 03 is history. We had a small turnout but a great time. Fishing was great - one day anyway, for Jim and Chris. The rest of us struggled. I was having such bad luck I spent most of the week working. And Donnie had a close encounter of the maddening kind with a raccoon.

I got away from home later than expected Monday and found out on the way to the lake that Jack was not going to be able to join us.  By the time I got to the lake the phone was ringing - it was Donnie calling to tell me supper was ready. Since it was so late and I had not unloaded, I told them I would meet them for lunch Tuesday.  When I turned on the water to take a shower, it ran for a second then died. I looked under the trailer and saw water spraying, so I went up to the road, turned off the valve and went to bed dirty.

I slept in Tuesday morning and then got up late and crawled under the trailer. I found where a pipe had come lose in a tee joint, and it looked like it had not been glued good.  I went into town and bought glue, crawled back under the trailer on my belly and started cleaning the pipe. That is when I saw the crack in the tee fitting.  I glued it as best I could then got a hose clamp and put it on, hoping it would hold.

I finally got the boat in the water after switching batteries around several times.  The cranking batter was shot, glad I had a spare.  When I got to the cabin at Mistletoe, everyone had finished lunch but I managed to find a bologna sandwich.  Jim and I then went out while Chris slept and Donnie and Mike took off in Donnie's boat.  The water was high and I just knew the fishing would be great, but in four hours all we could do was land a short bass each.  We rode up near the trailer and I turned on the water.  The glue did not hold. One more problem.

Jim and I headed back to the cabin in time to eat some of Mary's great banana nut bread while watch Donnie fry a turkey.  Chris had woke up and was out fishing, and he missed supper.  It was fantastic, and Mike's carving was a work of art.  At dark I headed back to the trailer, found a fitting for the pipe, crawled back under it and glued it in. Two hours later I was able to turn on the water, take a shower and go to bed.
