I was headed out to this point stopped halfway there cast out and hooked a bass. Bricen heard me say "fish on" and was running over to see my fish. He was such a trooper and followed me out on a rocky point, me carrying him partly, along with our poles.
There was a drop off with lots of rocks and I was trying to flip my crawdad Rapala along the bank and under the tree in front of us. I flipped it about 20 feet and got hooked on a rock. I told him to hold the pole very still so I could make my way over and unhook my lure. I got it unhooked tossed it out a couple feet and told Bricen to reel it in.
He looked like a pro and about halfway there he staryed yelling -"fish on ,fish on, fish on, I think I got a fish!!!!!" I of course thinking it was only a couple feet said" no baby, you probably got caught on a rock" and as I took a couple more steps to him sure enough he pulled a little blue gill up out of the water!
I have never been so proud in my whole life , his first fish he caught by himself! I actually had a tear well up in my eye but I am not ashamed to say so. I will remember that day for the rest of my life and that made it the best weekend camping I ever had.
