"Hi Ronnie, was reading your article and see that you are from around Griffin,I was living in that area for a while there and just outside Barnesville. Darn good fishing around that part of the state. I miss some ole fishing an' huntin buddies from there one of which is Wyat Childs there in Johnsonville who would take me fishing in his ponds, some great bream and bass fishing, enjoyed his company as well, one of the most interesting people you would want to meet but I truly think he liked my dog ( Champ ),a German shepherd, better than me.He would come borrow my dog to take him for a ride and of course Champ just loved to ride in the back of the truck. Hope all of them are well down that way ..
Here is a photo of the Hybrid I caught in Lake Russell, would have been a lake record but I didn't get it weighed on certified scales on time, dried out it weighed 14 lb's 12 oz.I weighed it the night before and it was 15.9,wanted to eat it ,wasn't worrying bout no records...
I have to give my cousin Chan Chitwood,a little credit cause we were in his boat .The fish were being marked all over the place on our depth finder and were not biting well at all, anywhere form 20 to 90 feet,we had free lines out back and trolling plainer boards also and still just a bite occasionally,I tied on a bucktail and tipped it with a dead herring ,cuz said I was waistin' my time, casting and trolling back slowly when it hit..
The DNR man that weighed it said it had lost well over a pound by sitting out dry all night.any how my dead bait was the only fish caught that day.
Good fishing to yall...
Heres wishin all fair weather and tight lines,A fishing friend
Wayne
