While walking around my pond last week I found this evidence another otter has moved into my pond. The picture shows a bass backbone that is 24 inches long and does not include the lips of the bass, which would probably add another 2 inches. That bass would have weighed around 8 pounds.

Otters can catch big bass and kill them fairly easily. Each winter I find evidence otters have moved off the big creek below my ponds and into them. I think when the female otters go into heat her young from the year before leave and look for new homes.

This is the third time in the past four years I have had otters in my ponds.
