Fishing for Alligators?

Ever hook a gator while fishing?

Ever get your worm caught on a log, and after much yanking, have a 15 ft. (not kidding) gater surface about 10 feet from the canoe with said worm dangling from a toothy mouth? Got trusty army knife with scissors in gear, snipped line & carefully (very) backpaddled. Later on that morning, my metal chain stringer containing a couple bass was neatly parted, leaving me about 10 inches of chain (only.)

Yep - it was a big one. After my heart settlled down - seemed like eternity & he/she didn't move - just stared at me, I got out my trusty swiss knife & used the scissors to carefully cut the line & then slowly backed the canoe outa there. About an hour later - very quiet morning - I heard a loud "bang" - couldn't figure out what it was - this lake is out in the middle of Florida nowhere. A little while later I caught another bass and went to put it on my chain stringer. Pulled the stringer up - all 10 inches of it - missing 3 feet of stringer and 4 bass!!! My friend had returned.

Bye the way: Currently having fun as a Walmart associate in the sporting goods dept. - Ormond Beach, Florida

Also: A while back - 2 time prize winner of the Seattle Boeing salmon derby (35,000 contestents)

Winner of Honeywell fishing weekend contest - Most walleye, biggest walleye; most northern, biggest northern; most smallmouth, biggest smallmouth, only muskie - and I had never seen a walleye, northern, smallmouth or muskie at that time. At the beginning of the trip, all the "ol'timers were loughing at me cause I only had a flyrod and my trusty Rapala. "Nobody fishes Minnesota with a flyrod!"

My mentor and highschool fishing buddy, now Dr. Steve Mathews, is the guy, i.e. his doctorate thesis was putting the original salmon in the great lakes. We came from the town of Olympia, Washington. My biggest out of Lake Superior is a 37 lb. king.

Also - am a Florida registered professional engineer - MIT graduate.

How about 27 pintails in 3 shots - all in the air - 20 ga. - little black lab went nuts. Warden wasn't too happy.

Do you know the meaning of gage as applied to shotgun size? Not many "know it all gunners" do.

Have a lot of stories - all true!
