Big Cat, False Claims

This picture has been making the rounds on eamail, claiming it was caught all over the place.

Ronnie Garrison
In the past few days I have gotten several emails showing the catfish picture to the right. The email claimed it was a new Georgia record cat weighing 140 pounds and was caught in Patula Creek at Lake Eufaula.

It did not look like a Georgia cat so I checked it out. It is not a cat found in Georgia - or even in the US. It is probalby a Wels cat that lives in Europe and the record weighed 202 pounds.

Apparently this picture has been making the rounds for a good while, with claims it was caught all over the US.
