1. Be quiet - Bed fishing is a sight game. Take your time, approach likely looking areas slowly and carefully. She may not leave if you run over her but her guard will be up nevertheless. That's not a good thing.
2. Take along lots of lures - Bed fish are finicky. One day they'll bite one lure but totally ignore it the next.
3. Size matters (sometimes) - Kenyon Hill's monster (10lbs, 4 ounces taken during Day Two of the Elite Series Citrus Slam in Kissimmee, Florida) is an example of a huge bass that ate a huge bait. Sometimes that's what it takes. At other times, however, a tiny, finesse bait will be the ticket. Try everything.
4. Be patient - Top anglers often work hours to get a bedding female to bite. Don't get in a hurry, especially if she's the trophy of a lifetime.
5. Turn her loose - There aren't very many true giants out there. And, they can be exhausted. Land her as fast as possible; handle her with care; take a couple of quick photos; and turn her loose.
