The reason? FLW Tour phenom Bobby Lane had his second consecutive below-90th-place finish at last week's FLW Tour event on Alabama's Wheeler Lake. He falls from 8 points behind Wolak to 21 points behind. In fact, Lane is now 3rd in the ROY points, behind fellow Floridian and Bassmaster Tour rookie Preston Clark, in 2nd.
With just one regular-season event to go, it looks like Wolak, who was the BASS rookie of the year, will be crowned the best tour rookie in fishing for 2005.
The only major move in the points this week is by Roseville, Calif.'s Michael Bennett, who finished 2nd at Wheeler. That finish helps him jump 10 spots to 9th in the standings.
