Susan Dameron is getting ready for her second 2008 WBT tournament at Neely-Henry in Alabama this week after placing seventh as a co-angler in the first one. This article is her memories of her first WBT tournament in 2006, also on Neely-Henry. She tells how nervous she was then and how each day went, with a limit the first day and no fish on the second. There is nothing that can prepare you for such a tournament but the learning experience at one is irreplacable and can't be gotten anywhere else.

At the Georgia Outdoor Writers Association Spring Conference at Lake Eufaula I took Wm. Hovie Smith out bowfishing. He got a gar and showed me how to clean it. These pictures and instructions will help you clean one if you want to try it. The filets Hovie cut out were good when I sauteed them with butter and lemon.

Mary and her fiancé Brad got to fish in the pond at the business where Mary works. They caught a couple of bass, including one shown in the gallery that was big fish of the day. The sink full of bluegill shows their day's catch. The one on top is huge. The business allows employees to fish the pond once a year. Do you work somewhere tha t has a pond and allows employees to fish> Tell us about it in the comments section.

Either way, I got it from her and her mother. Both of them would rather fish than eat - proved to me many times when meals were skipped to go fishing. So, whether its heredity or environment, taught or inborn, I was lucky to get such a heavy dose of fishing desire. It has been an important part of my life. Mother's Day is a good time to consider such an upbringing...

Mother's Day is a good time to think about a special trip with your mother to a good fishing hole.
Passing On The Love of Mom and Fishing Saturday May 10, 2008 | permalink | comments (0) Catch and Release FishingI usually practice catch and release when bass fishing but sometimes it is catch and hot grease. There is nothing wrong with keeping fish to eat as long as you follow the law. No one should abuse fish populations but keeping everything they catch but most fishermen don't even consider that. Here are some reasons I think keeping some fish is ok. Post your comments in the section below.

Switzerland has banned catch and release fishing, requiring fishermen to "be humane" with their catch by killing it. Is the next step to ban all fishing?
