ANNOUNCING NORTH AMERICAN FISHING BY KEN SCHULTZ
Field & Stream Fishing Editor Pens 13th Book for September Publication
NEW YORK -- Anglers throughout North America will be delighted to learn that noted fishing editor and author Ken Schultz has written a new book just for them that will hit the bookstores this month.
North American Fishing is a modern, informative and handsomely illustrated book that will be a terrific reference for anglers.. It will also be an excellent introduction for the several million newcomers who participate in the sport each season.
I think this is the perfect book for someone who is relatively new, or moderately experienced, but very enthusiastic about fishing, and who wants to broaden his or her knowledge, said Schultz, fishing editor of Field & Stream, a member of the Fishing Hall of Fame, and the man ESPN has called Mr. Fishing USA.
The new 256-page book contains 225 full-color photographs, dozens of technical illustrations, and dramatic full-page action shots that Schultz believes will bring the excitement and immediacy of this classic sport to life.
While North American Fishing is a large-format book appropriate for coffee table display, Schultz has no intention of it just being used as part of a rooms décor. Ive written a single-volume reference guide that covers both freshwater and saltwater fishing, he said. It covers the pros and cons of the different types of locations to fish in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. I also offer page after page of advice on the best techniques to catch all kinds of fish, and the best equipment to use. Its very practical.
Well known as the author of the landmark 1,916-page Ken Schultzs Fishing Encyclopedia & Worldwide Angling Guide, Schultz said he believes theres a real need for North American Fishing because equipment, techniques, and places to fish are always evolving and new people constantly discover the sport and want the most up-to-date information presented in a current manner.
Ive written thirteen books, he said, and the best reaction Ive gotten from readers has been to the all-color, large-format books such as North American Fishing. Lets face it, no one watches small-screen, black-and-white TVs anymore, so why would they want a small black-and-white fishing book?
Schultz certainly knows what hes talking about when it comes to books, fishing, and writing about fishing. The Outdoor Life Network has dubbed him one of the best fishermen on the planet, while The Wall Street Journal said his Fishing Encyclopedia is a treasure, USA TODAY said it was exhaustive, and the New York Times said it was a major accomplishment.
Tens of millions of people have read his articles for more than 25 years in the pages of Field & Stream and trust his opinion. They know Schultz has gained his experience and knowledge by fishing widely throughout North America and beyond, and when he writes about the best techniques and the best equipment to use, its based on personal experience.
Writing North American Fishing has been especially pleasing to me, Schultz said, because I can say more, and do more with photos and illustrations than I can in my magazine articles. Also, this book is very well organized and the information is presented in an easily understood and user-friendly format.
The book came out in September of 2001. Published by Carlton Books, it will be distributed nationally by the National Book Network. It can be purchased on-line at Amazon and Barnes and Noble as well as in retail bookstores across the United States.
