LAKE LEVEL: 563.5
FULL POOL: 564.0
SURFACE TEMP: 88.3
WATER CLARITY: Good
Here is the reports from the local marina's:
COWAN CREEK:
ROOSTER'S: ( Arnie & Rita): Big stripe
being caught on the old river channel around Pruett's Island on live shad. In
with the stripe they are catching good stringers of white bass on Little
George's and Rooster Tails. Bass fishing is
a little slow but they are still catching a few 10-12 foot deep around
structure. Still catching good stringers of crappie under the bridges
at night.256-927-5227
PRUETT'S: (Johnny & Betty): Reports bass
activity fair and crappie pretty good. Some being taken off the docks.
256-475-3950
HAWG'S DEN: (Tony): Bass fishing has slowed some.
It is August, what do you expect. Bass being taken around docks and structure
10-12 foot deep and off points and humps. Carolina rigged soft plastics and
Pig-n-jig.
Crappie fishing has been fair on the edge of the
old river channel and around docks.
A mystery man came in with 10 stripe over 10 lbs.
It is not hard to figure where he caught them. Either the deep water at Hawg
Island or the Ole Cotton Gin.
Nice size catfish being taken off our docks. Come
get all you want. 256-779-4294
LITTLE RIVER
JR'S MARINA: (Geraldine & JR): A lot of just
barely short crappie still coming from around the docks and structure.
Nice stripe being caught out of the Cave Hole and
Spring Creek. Average catch is 4-6. Largest seen was 22lbs.
The white bass are mixed in with the stripe and
being caught on Little George's.
Catfish are also mixed in with the stripe. They
are free-loaders. They are picking up the dead shad the stripe kill. Geraldine
said she had one come in that weighed 28lbs. All of them nice fish.

RIVERSIDE: No report.
BAY SPRINGS: Closed
PINE CONE: No report (Going on the auction block
Saturday morning).
STEVE, BUTCH & HARRY :
(With Harry doing most of the fishing!)
CRAPPIE: Catching a lot. Still just barely short
of legal. About 20:1 ratio. 10-18 foot deep on most any drop that has a little
structure (which includes the old river channel edges.) Also around deep
docks.
BASS: Bass have slowed way down with this hot
weather. A few early and late on Crankbaits and Pose 400. Also slow rolling a
Spinner Bait deep. Most productive when they are pulling water. Still catching
them on points, humps and drop off's. If you take a good lake map you can find
them pretty easy.
STRIPE: Picking up some in the cut and the rocky
point just as you go into the cut, but only when they are pulling water.
Little George and live shad. (While you have a heat stroke!) Some of the
stripe are also holding on deep brushpiles. Slow rolling Spinner Bait works
pretty good.
BREAM: (Guntersville): It hasn't peaked yet but it
is doing pretty good. Some pretty good ones. 35-50 foot deep. Crickets will
work but wax worms are better. Great time to take the kids and keep them busy.
Teach your kids to fish and hunt and you will not have to hunt your kids.
CATFISH: Lots of them. Trot line and jug fish. Cut
shad works the best. If you don't have a boat you can fish off the bank. Fish
cleaning stations are still holding large catfish.
Words of wisdom for the week: Stay home and stay
cool or go night fishing. If you have an itch you just have to scratch, you
can catch some. Bring a lot of water, sunscreen and bug repellant.
With the high water it has washed in a lot of
logs. With a little chop on the water they are mighty hard to see. Try not to
have a 1/2 off prop sale.
As always if we can be of any help just
"holler". Steve,Cheryl,Butch & Harry 256-927-6617 www.weisslakeguideservice.com
