Yelas Lead Classic After Day One

Jay Yelas took first place by 4.5 pounds on the first day of the Bassmasters Classic on Lay Lake in Alabama.  Helped by big fish of the day at 6 lbs. 2 ozs, Yelas weighed in 18 lbs, 9 ozs.  Aaron Martens was in second with 14 lbs.1 oz. 

Yelas said he caught nine keepers on different Berkley Power Baits using 25 test Trilene XT mostly around shallow cover but had one big spotted bass weighing 3.5 pounds on a crankbait.

Martins caught his fish by fishing for schooling spotted bass.

The Classic will end Saturday after two  more days of fishing.
