Professional Bass Fishing Hall of Fame's World Championship
HOT SPRINGS, Ark. -- Today Royal, Ark.'s Greg Carpenter caught 15.24 pounds of bass to take the lead at the Professional Bass Fishing Hall of Fame's World Championship on Lake Ouachita. In fact, the "local advantage" -- which rarely is an advantage at the top levels of the sport -- actually seems to have been an advantage this time as Carpenter is one of six Arkansas anglers to make the Top 10.
Tomorrow the Top 10 will practice on adjacent Lake Hamilton in preparation for Saturday's finals (day 2 standings are listed below). The field also includes top-ranked anglers Clark Wendlandt (No. 3 in the world), Aaron Martens (No. 9 in the world) and Gary Klein (No. 13 in the world).
Mt. Ida, Ark.'s Mark Davis is ranked No. 2 in the BassFan.com World Rankings and grew up on the shores of Lake Hamilton. As such he is one of the favorites to win.
All anglers fishing in the World Championship are eligible to participate in the first-ever indoor fishing skills competition featuring some of the world's top pros. The BassFan.com Fishing Skills Competition will take place Friday, May 23, at 6:00 p.m. CST in the Hot Springs Convention
Center. This will provide an unprecedented opportunity for fishing fans to see their sports heroes' skills up close, and for the pros to interact with the fans. For more info, visit BassFan.com
