Lake Weiss Fishing Report
DATE: 7-25-01
LAKE LEVEL: Full pool
NORMAL FULL POOL: 564.0
SURFACE TEMP: 88 in am - 92 in pm
WATER CLARITY: Great
CRAPPIE: No activity.
BASS: Pretty good early and late. Carolina rig on French Fry worms and small lizards. (From 10am - 4pm, take a nap). Blue sparkle still holding good. Fish long points and old river channel edges and humps that drop off into deep
water. The dog days of summer are here!
STRIPE: Good stringers of stripe being caught at the rocky point at the flood control dam when they are generating. Also, good stringers of stripe are being caught way up the Chatooga from the 3rd island up from the Gaylesville
bridge. My partner Harry and I went up with a 14 ft. john boat with a 15hp motor that would float in 10" of water. From the third island up using a gold and black redfin we killed them.
WHITE BASS: A lot of white bass surfacing up the Chatooga from Cornwall Furnace up.
BREAM: Still down south.
CATFISH: Good stringers of catfish coming off of trot lines and jugs using cut shad on the river channel.
Hope everyone is having a safe summer. Do not forget to book early for the fall. Take care
Sincerely, Steve & Cheryl, Butch & Harry
