Lake Weiss Fishing Report
DATE: 6-29-01
LAKE LEVEL: 564+
NORMAL FULL POOL: 564.0
SURFACE TEMP: 83.0 am - 88.5 pm
WATER CLARITY: Good
CRAPPIE: Night fishing under the bridges only and these are few and far between at that.
BASS: Bass fishing still good. Buzz Baits early. French Fry worms on the long point later the
am. Fish bite the best from daylight to about 8am and then go take a nap and come back out about 5pm.Pearl Bomber plugs and Deep Diving Plugs in the afternoon also on the points.
STRIPE: The stripe are very strong on the old river channels in 10-12 foot deep in 25 feet of water. Live shad is the best bait to use but if you cannot throw a shad net small bream will
work. At this time you should be able to catch all you want but we do ask that you do not over harvest the resource.
WHITE BASS: Surfacing from the Hawgs Den to the Alabama Belle. Rooster tails are working the best or you can troll one of Mrs. Cheryl's 1/16 jigs on a medium troll. Bubble Gum is the best color to use.
BREAM: Shallow around the banks using crickets & worms.
CATFISH: All you want to catch around the old river channel edges. Use cut shad or whatever you
prefer. Some in the 20-30 lb. range being caught. Also night fishing off dock is doing pretty well also. Especially if someone has cleaned fish.
As always, no-one that calls that wants some help but cannot afford a guide, we will be GLAD to help in any way we can. Have a safe summer and take your kids fishing!! You are never bothering us by calling or emailing! Take care! Thanks, Steve
PS: There is no dumb question so if you need some advice just "holler" at me!
Sincerely, Steve & Cheryl, Butch & Harry
