Lake Weiss Fishing Report

DATE: 1-30-01
LAKE LEVEL: 559.1
NORMAL LEVEL: 564.0
SURFACE TEMP: Mid 40's
WATER CLARITY: Decent on the upper end, just starting to
clear on the lower end.

CRAPPIE: Crappie fishing on the upper end of the lake (Riverside Area) is starting to pick up as the water clears.  Use minnows on the old river Channel edges.  Some stringer of 15-30 being brought in.The crappie that are being caught are extremely nice fish.  I would expect this to only get better as the surface temperature continues to rise.

WHITE BASS: Some activity showing up trolling.  Some being caught in Churchouse Cove & Chestnut Cove.

BASS: Very little activity at this time.

CATFISH: Lots being caught on channel edges in the deeper water.

BREAM: No report.

STRIPE: Am starting to see some activity after the cold front moved out.Expect this to get better as things get warmer.  Look for the birds.

Things are starting to look up as the muddy water runs on out.  Expect things to really start picking up within the next 2-3 weeks as the surface temp's rise.

As always do not hesitate to give me a ring or email as I am always glad to help anyone whether you need a guide or not.  Not long now before season breaks open!! Have a GREAT DAY! Steve www.lakeweissguideservice.com
