Lake Weiss Fishing Report

DATE: 1-20-01
LAKE LEVEL: 559.2 & climbing
NORMAL LEVEL: 564.0
SURFACE TEMP: Low 40's
WATER CLARITY: Muddy

CRAPPIE: Crappie fishing has been fair until about 5 days ago when the rain started.  Not knocking the rain we needed it.  But, because of 5 days of rain the lake is now muddy.  Do not look for this to change for at least a week.

BASS: The surface temperature is TOO COLD for Bass.

CATFISH: Again, the lake is now muddy, but, if you must go I would fish the creek channels and river channels.

BREAM: Bream are also done until the water clears and the surface temp. comes up.

STRIPE: Stripe fishing has been fair but also, because of cooler temps. & now the rain & muddy water, do not look for them to pick back up until temps. rise & lake clears.

Sorry this is not the best report but it is truthful.  The lake is muddy due to recent rains and as you know that slows everything down, not to mention the cooler temps.

As always do not hesitate to give me a ring or email as I am always glad to help anyone whether you need a guide or not.  Hope everyone had a great Holiday and is looking forward to a GREAT fishing season!

***Note: Because of changes going on in the area, would suggest that you book as early as possible because motel space could be a problem.  Have a GREAT Day!
