Lake Weiss Fishing Report

  • DATE: 10-15-00
    LAKE LEVEL: 559.2
    NORMAL LEVEL: 564.0
    SURFACE TEMP: 61*F(early am.)(pm mid 60's)
    WATER CLARITY: Good

CRAPPIE: Crappie fishing is very poor.Do not look for it to improve
until or if we get some water. This may very well be not until
spring. There is no water under the docks therefore no fish.Oxygen level
is low in some areas of lake due to lack of rain.

BASS: Bass fishing is very good right now.Shallow diving crank baits and
rat'l traps. Most anywhere you have a little water around the bank will
    do.

CATFISH: All you want come and get them. For the great big ones fish
around the fish cleaning stations.Otherwise night fishing is still good
with trot lines and jugs on cut bait.

BREAM: Lot of bream around where there is water. The congregate mostly
around any dock that you can find that has some water. If you are looking
for great big bream don't come here as Weiss is not know for big
bream. You can catch some as big as your hand.(well maybe not your
    hand,my hand...lol)

STRIPE: Stripes are filtering down out of the cooler creeks into the
main lake.It won't be long until the shad go down and the birds tell you
    where they are.

We hate to give a bad fishing report. But, we just try to tell it like it
is.As always do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any help
whether you need a guide or not.Always glad to lend a hand.

**AGAIN** PLEASE use caution on Weiss as the water level remains
low.Watch for the channel markers and use caution when you leave the
channel.Take it easy and you should have no problems.
