Lake Weiss Fishing Report

  • DATE: 9-7-00
    LAKE LEVEL: 560.7
    SURFACE TEMP: 78*F
    WATER CLARITY: Good

CRAPPIE: We tried the crappie today.  Caught several.  Mostly 9 1/2 inch
fish.  Surface temp is down and they are just now starting to bite a
little bit.  Should get better every day.Our water level is still low.  Weiss
is a shallow lake to start with, you need to be SUPER careful out there
    right now.

BASS: Bass are still shallow on humps and sand bars.  Showing signs of
trying to school up.  Lot of tournament size fish.  Glad to see them.  Had a
70 boat tournament this past weekend.5 fish limit.14.9 lbs. won it.  My
partner, Harry Richardson, came in third. He missed big fish by 3 oz.  He
missed first place by 1.1 lbs.  Keep up the good work Harry!!

BREAM: Not showing much signs of anything yet.

CATFISH: Still good catches at night.  Cut bait still seems to work the
    best.

WHITE BASS: Finally showing a little activity now.  White rooster
tails, medium size, seems to work the best.  Fish the flats.  Most of them
just off the channel chasing shad.

STRIPE: I believe stripe are still in cooler creeks. But, with the
water level like it is, it is almost impossible to get to them until
they move back out to the main body of water.

AGAIN: PLEASE be careful on our lake at this time due to low water!!!!

As usual if I can be of any help don't hesitate to "holler".  But, before
you "holler", please look at the whole site as we have a lot of info
that may be of interest to you. www.lakeweissguideservice.com
