Lake Weiss Fishing Report

  • DATE: 8-23-00
    LAKE LEVEL: 560.7
    NORMAL POOL: 564.0
    SURFACE TEMP: 94.6*F
    WATER CLARITY: Normal

CRAPPIE: Crappie fishing is Zero.  Too HOT!!

BASS: The bass fishing is slow.   We recently had a 65 boat tournament and
13lbs. won it.  All the fish were caught Carolina rigged on shallow humps
and drops.  Most of the fish that were caught were spots.3-5 ft.
deep.  Makes no sense at all but that is where they were.

    BREAM: Very slow.

CATFISH: Large stringers are being caught at night.  Fish deep.  Cut bait
    seems to work the best.

WHITE BASS: White bass are still zip.

The nights are finally starting to cool down in the low 70's.After
several days of 104-105 temps.  If the trend to cool down continues, in a
week to 10 days, fishing should start to pick up.  But, we have another
little problem, lake is down 4 feet due to no rain.  We badly need rain to
cool the water and to help put oxygen into it.  Being a shallow lake, at
full pool, this lake can hurt you.  At 4 foot low I would strongly advise
caution on operating your water craft on this lake!!!  Be real sure of
where you are and the depths around you.  (or we may have 1 big 1/2 off
prop & lower unit sale)..  LOL

As usual if I can be of any help don't hesitate to "holler".  But, before
you "holler", please look at the whole site as we have a lot of info
that may be of interest to you. www.lakeweissguideservice.com

PLEASE!!! Be careful on our lake at this time due to low water!!!!
