While fishing a small lake with my buddy in NJ, I cast a spinnerbait past a log lying horizontally in the water that was mostly submerged. About the time the bait reached the log a largemouth took it. Luckily I was able to pull the bass over the log into open water.
It jumped a few times as I worked it closer to the boat and I noticed something wasn't right. In the brief time that it was air borne we noticed something hanging off the lower end of the fish. I got the fish close to the boat and my buddy netted it.
He held the fish up and we both just stared at each other. The 17 inch bass had a 7 inch plastic worm hanging out of its butt. My buddy said to the bass, "This is your lucky day, pal", as he pulled the hook out one end, the worm out the other, and threw it back in.
