"What is the best tip you have ever given or received?  How many fish did you/they catch from the tip?"

10:30 - lake gets real busy - skiers and skidoos out in force. Head up river to get away from them and for the cooler, more stained water. And the shade! Head into narrow run-around channel of the river - some current and water 75 and stained good - start throwing Secret Weapon right against bank and by all the wood cover.

11:00 - Like the way this bait runs - come by a little brush top - 12.5 inch bass jumps all over it! Put him in livewell and see 13 inch bass belly up. Put it in ice chest - will eat him. Wonder if I will get any grief at weigh-in about bass on ice? Work spinnerbait until noon, no bites - just not the kind of day I like spinnerbait - bright blue skis.

12:00 - Tie on Fat Free Fry - run it by logs and in shade - a 13 inch spotted bass grabs it by log out in current. Right by boat, I lift him in and put him in live well. Got my limit! 30 more minutes of fishing crankbait and no strikes - might as well go for broke - tie on DBIII and fish it in cover - nothing. Try 8 inch lizard pitched to brush and wood - lizard dropping thru logjam and line ticks - set the hook and feel fish, then log. Work over to log but fish is gone. Wonder how big he was?

1:15 - out to main river channel headed toward weigh-in at 2 - stop at brush top where ditch enters river. Pitch right to bank, it drops straight off 8 feet. See line move to right as lizard sinks - set the hook and fish pulls back hard. Immediately goes into thick brush.! Work on it but can not get it lose. Have to break off. That was the one I needed!

1:30 - head down lake to deep rocky point near weigh-in and work 8 inch worm slowly around rocks. Nothing.

2:00 - At ramp everybody shaking their head. Almost get into fight with three inconsiderate idiot teenagers blocking ramp while they unhook skiddoo and spend 15 minutes getting ready while four boats wait in line - four that they pulled ahead of and then stopped. I almost run over them pulling around them and backing trailer down ramp on top of them . Load boat - speak to idiots, they are still unhooking skidoo. They show their intelligence level by cussing me and saying they will get boat ready anywhere they want, thereby proving my point about them. Would get tag number and contact their fathers, but they probably never had any.

My five fish weigh 7.54 - second place has 3 @ 4.51. My big fish weighs 2.87 but gets beat by a 3.10. Close but no hand grenade! Happy with win. My first two were all I needed but glad I got limit - the only one. Also glad three teenagers did not want to fight - when I asked other club members if they would help me, they said "who are you????" All in all, a pretty good day!
