OLGATOR
I would like to show my handy work to everyone (tho they could probably care less)of a fiberglass pontoon boat that I built almost entirely by myself. I started with the plug, which means that I made the structure to build the mold from. Built the mold, made 2 pontoons, the deck, (;fiberglass cloth and resin over 3/4" marine plywood), bolted it all together with galv. cap bolts and S/S screws. The guy (who owns the boat now has not used it since I left Fla. 3 years ago. It's about the best handling boat I've ever had, and much lighter than an aluminum pontoonboat.
The same guy built the hand rails out of fir boards and I saw it a few months back and they (tho resined over w/green epoxy paintd) are now rotted out and the whole boat needs a lot of work on it. I ofered him twice what it cost us to build but he wont sell it. Why I wish I knew. He has congestive heart failure and can't do anything anymore either.
Here it is getting ready to go out on lake Okeechobee, what do you think of my first try at boat building????????
