Ronnie,
I thought I would tell you about the pictures I sent.
I had the pictures in order by size of bass, but that put them out of
order
of when they were caught.
The first picture, (smallest bass on sunny day was 1 LB 15 oz caught at
12:00 noon on Saturday Feb. 24 on a black/blue jig with a zoom
black/blue
glitter small chunk trailer. He was caught on that rip rap in the
background in the corner on the right which is just out of sight. Where
the rip rap bank of that small causeway intersects the main land. The
water temp was 48 degrees at noon.
The fourth picture is a 7LB 7oz also caught on the same black/blue jig
at
about 2:00 PM about 3 feet from the place I caught the 2lb bass. One of
the few times in my life where I called the shot! I had just told
Michael
that sometimes in the spring when the bass a moving up shallow that a
place
like that could have another fish in it not too long after moving
another
bass out of there.
Down along that bank behind me where I'm holding the 7.7 I also caught
a
4.6 and a 5.15. Michael missed one on that same bank. All of those
fish
were caught between 2:00 and 3:00 PM. We should have taken pictures of
those fish too, but by then I wanted to get back to fishing to see just
how
many of these big fish we could catch! The surface water temp got just
up
over 50 that afternoon. The air temp was maybe in the high 50's.
We were pitching the jigs up around the visible cover and slowly
hopping
or dragging them out from the cover. All most all of the hits came
right
away on the fall though! Although the seven pounder hit while I was
slowly starting to swim the jig back to me.
BTW if you look close you can see my B.A.S.S pin on my hat that I got
when
I signed up a few years ago! :-)
The second and third pictures were taken on Saturday March 3rd. That
day
started at 50 with rain and ended up at 45 with rain! It was raining or
misting the whole time! Real pleasant day! The water temp started at
48.4 and ended and 48.8. I have no idea why it warmed at all with the
air
temp getting colder?
Good question for the forum maybe? The first one is a 3 LB 12oz and
the
second one is a 5.5! Also caught on the same jig pitched up to
shoreline
cover that was in two to four feet of water. The bass were not way up
on
the bank, they were out in the outside edge of the cover.
I think I'm going to like bass fishing in North Carolina! At least I
hope
this wasn't a fluke!
