Bragging Board

    Flint River Shoal Bass

Ed Lane took me on a float trip on the Flint River near Albany, GA and caught these fish.  They look a lot like pictures of smallmouth bass, they like current and rocks, and fight like crazy.

I had caught five or six bass on a Shad Rap between 1 and 5 PM and Ed had two on worms.  He kept trying a PopR and they started hitting it right at 5:00 PM.  He caught these two out of the same shoals - you can see them in the background.  These two were about the same size and are typical of the size you catch.

The big one hit a Pop-R at about 6:00 PM.  It weighed about 3.5 pounds.  Ed says he regularly catches bass this size and catches several 5 pounders each year.

This was a great trip that I plan on taking again soon!
