Bragging Board

Brandon and Bass

Al Bassett of Big Al’s Guide Service & Custom Fishing Rods on Lake Oconee, was hired to take out nine year old Brandon for a day of fishing.  Brandon enjoys fishing and his dad wanted him to have someone who could work with him and teach him different techniques for catching fish.  They had only been out for a short time when Brandon had one on.  Brandon was successful in landing this 7.26pound largemouth Bass on 6 pound test line.  The fish was caught at Lake Oconee near the Sugar Creek Bridge, July 11th, 2003.

After some assistance from Al’s son Scott and the local Publix Supermarket who allowed them to weigh the fish on a certified scale.  It was determined that the fish would be a record and entered as such with the IGFA (International Game Fish Association).  IGFA keeps certified records on all different species of fish.  Brandon’s fish falls into the line category for a fish caught in the male 10 and under group.  The fish was caught on a Zoom watermelon finesse worm with a 1/16ounce weight using a Big Al custom rod with a Bass Pro Shop Pro Qualifier reel and 6pound test P-line.  Al and his wife Diane are also members of the Bass Pro Shops Nitro State Fishing Team.  For more information on Lake Oconee or to schedule a trip or seminar with Big Al please visit his web site at: www.OconeeAl.com or call 706-485-1280.
