    Lake Weiss Lake Fishing Report

    LAKE LEVEL: 562.5
    WATER CLARITY: Good
    SURFACE TEMP. 84*F

CRAPPIE: The only crappie being harvested are being caught under the
lights on the old river channels.  And very few of them at that.

BASS: Crank Baits and Buzz Baits early, Carolina rigged worms and
lizards on humps and drops.  Crank Baits again later on in the evening.

BREAM: Bream fishing has died on the vine.

STRIPE: Stripe activity is good from daylight until about 11 am and then
again from about 3pm until dark.  Haven't been night fishing for then but
it should be pretty good.  Catching them in about 20 ft. of water along
old river channels and creek channels.  Live bait seems to work the
best.  Small bream or shad,  cannot really tell much difference between the
two of them.  Fished Friday, had 49, 3-15 lbs. Fished today on a scouting
trip for future guided trips and caught 44 but only kept 3 that had
swallowed the hook.  If you don't know I will tell you, on Weiss Lake you
can catch and keep 30 Stripe per person per day.  This is not a misprint!

CATFISH: Catfish activity is strong night or day.  Caught one today in the
20lb. range while fishing for Stripe.  Cut shad is probably producing the
best.  However, if you have a favorite bait use it.

WHITE BASS: Very little activity with white bass however it is about
time for them to surface. While Stripe fishing today we caught stripe
12-14 foot deep in 24 foot of water but, marked a lot of fish 2-4 foot
deep and I bet you a nickel they were white bass.

If I can help in anyway I am glad to do so. You will find that Centre,
Alabama is a pretty friendly place. So before you throw your rod & reel
in the lake or talk about my relatives (LOL) talk to me. I would be glad
to help you whether you need a guide or not.
