On Saturday morning, members of the Georgia Outdoor Writers Association paired up with club fishermen from the Georgia Bass Chapter Federation to try to catch some bass at the Rocky Mountain Public Fishing Area. It was a beautiful morning, the weather was fantastic and the scenery breath taking. There were even two or three bass caught.
Members of GBCF and GOWA gather on the dock to discuss the days fishing. See any fish?????

GOWA member John Trussell, in the back of the boat, was told to hold up his catch. He held up a plug and said "I think I had a strike on this one!"

Georgia Sportsman Magazine editor Jimmy Jacobs was asked to hold up his catch. His reaction - "I threw everything in this bag and never got a strike!"

Bob Kornegay holds up the longest catch of the day - a banded water snake. Bob got bit only one time while trying to pick up the snake. It hit a Rooster Tail - or rather the Rooster Tail hit it as it swam along. When the poor, confused critter was lifted over the bank, it fell off and Bob planted one of his brogans on it until he could pick it up to show off.

Finally a bass! Kyle Kornegay - remember him from the lock, he caught the biggest hybrid the day before this trip - holds up the biggest bass of the day. Dad got the snake, Kyle got the bass. Wonder if it hit the grasshopper???

If you ever get a chance to go to the Rome Georgia area, check out this public fishing area. It is a great place to spend the day. Everyone agreed they would be back to try again!
