    Ice Storm 2000

    Dateline: 2/1/00

Freezing rain falls as water then freezes on contact - with trees, roads, cars and power lines. The added weight causes trees to fall on lines and lines to break, resulting in power outages. That is what happened to me last weekend - no power to update my site! Here are a couple of pictures.

My back yard on Monday - two days after the ice formed. Most of it on the ground had melted, but not on the trees!

More of my back yard. The little pine almost broke, many big ones did! All night Sat. night and during the day Sunday you could hear limbs crashing. No way to go fishing!

The sparkling ice was pretty Monday when the sun finally came out, and these oak trees held up fine, but pines fell on power lines and made a mess!
