Spinnerbaits and the Topwater retrive. Here is an effective way to fish your favorite bucktail spinner as a top water lure. Cast your bucktail, stopping it just before it hits the water by thumbing your reel to a stop; at the same time lift the tip of your rod to twelve oclock. The bucktail will be coming toward you as it hits the surface. This is a very productive and exciting way to trigger those strike when fish are hitting a Topwater patteren.
Indian Summer Muskies. Long line trolling big bucktails is a highly effective way to catch Indian Summer Muskies. Depending on water clarity, wind and available forage, trolling can provide the best means to locate active fish. At about 3-4 mph a bucktail runs perfectly about 3 feet below the surface. Varying your speed and trolling approach trigger more strikes, pumping the bucktail will add success to this technique. With the added attraction of a bladed leader like the Toga Bucktail Leader gives that big fall look and fish will spook out and then loop back in after the boat passes.
