I read one of the dog stories on this site - great story, great dog! Some times us mongrels don't do bad, people or dogs!
I have a part Loposo & Rat Terrier that my daughert-in-law ask me to keep because she could not keep him in an apartment. She got him after her grandfather passed on. He had it and a Lab, but someone shot the Lab while they were in the same pen!
Anyway, enough background. He fishes with me - if the boat moves, he is there. Before we go any further, they named him Buddy and I named him Ugly!
One day while getting ready to launch my pontoon boat, a lady ask me, as she watched Ugly dog climb the ladder on the trailer to get on the boat, how I taught him to do that. I told her I didn't teach him - I told him "Ugly, if you want to go, get on up!"
Ugly and I can be out for hours - 8 to10 sometimes! He shares lunch, dinner or snacks with everyone else on the boat. I go to the coffee shop every day and he goes there, too. He even has to take out the trash with me! The only time he does not go is when I pick up my volunteer fire radio or lunch box, he knows he can't go then.
Just a short history of Ugly dog!
