One Sunday my partner and I went out fishing to kill a bit of time, as it was I had no clients to guide that day and thought a bit of personal fishing would fit the ticket. Our goal was a few nice walleye fillets.

I tied on one of my favourite walleye lures and my buddy started to tease me about losing a 12lb pike a short while ago. I find a leader affects the lures movement when fishing walleye. Any way, as we were trolling, I got snagged and put my boat in neutral. As I am trying to get unstuck, my snag starts swimming away! I said to Wayne, "I,ve got something big here."

This fish didn't want to come in, it made eight runs at about thirty - thirty five feet plus, and strangely it never came out of the water! When it swam past the boat it looked like a small submarine! It took us thirty long minutes to finally subdue this fish. Trying for a bigger one next spring.

    Tight lines!
