Bill sent me this in response to a question on the forum!
Anybody that would fish for Bass guarding a nest should be shot. That isn't what I call fishing! A guarding Bass is half starved and will hit anything that comes close to it's eggs or fry.
We have the biggest Small mouth fishery in the world and probably the biggest Smallies, but just 7 miles up the lake (Western Basin Lake Erie) the Smallies are getting consistently smaller every year, due to US & Canadian so called Bass fishermen fishing the beds every year for the last 10 years. We tend to run these guys out of our area.
I make sure all of my customers and friends know where I stand when it comes to the Smallies out of season and on the beds. I would turn the guy I fish with in if I caught him fishing the beds out of season and he knows it.
Mark my words there will be a new Ontario record taken in our area this year and maybe even a new world record this season. But I'm betting on next year for the world record and hopefully I'll get it so I can measure it and weight it and take a picture of it before it is released. Have a good one EH!!!!
