Fishing With Grandpa

I was 4 and Grandpa took me to Lake Rowland in the U.P. of Michigan. My first pole was Grandpas first pole. It was made of bamboo. He also gave me my first fishing caps, Grandpa was in the navy, so he gave me his old cracker jack hat.
We went out in his rowboat. Grandpa showed me how to bait the hook so the worm would stay on. I remember crying and telling Grandpa that I didn't want to put the worm on because I didn't want to hurt the worm. Grandpa Jack gave me plastic worm instead and showed me how to put it on,then he put on the bobber for me and we started to fish.
After a while the pole was almost pulled out of my hands. Grandpa came over by me with the net and helped me bring in my fish. We got it into the boat and Grandpa weighed it and measured it, it was a 2 pound bass about 13 inches long. Grandpa said that Iwas a big boy to be able to catch such a big fish. After that Grandpa and I caught 2 more fish. He caught a 6 pound walleye, and Icaught another bass. Those were the best fish I ever ate!
I will always remember this time with Grandpa, because of him I found a hobby that I love and that helps me relax. Grandpa is in his seventies now,but he still fishes everyday, except for the winter, and every time he go's out he always catches something.
I hope that when I have kids or Grandkids I get to teach them how to fish. I still have Grandpa's pole an fishin cap and I would take it over any of the many poles I have. I use it quite a bit and when I have Grandkids I will pass it on to them.
Hope you enjoyed this fish tale.
