State and Country Resources Lists
Dateline: 08/25/97
Starting Labor Day weekend, I plan to upload state and country resources lists. Beginning with five southeastern states - Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and South Carolina - these lists will contain links to lots of information for the fisherman. Other states and countries will be added as lists are completed.
My goal is to offer you the information you want. If you plan a trip to another state, I want you to be able to find out what license you need, how much it will cost and how to get it. If you know the lake you are visiting, you will be able to get current fishing reports, water levels, a weather forecast and places to stay. If you are going to a city you will be able to locate the best fishing near there, a guide if you want one, directions to the lake or river, marinas and boat ramps and tackle stores nearby. If you are looking for a vacation site you can check several states and different places in them to decide where to go.
Each list will be divided into six sections for easier locations of
information. They are:
The Basics, giving state information about license costs, requirements
and how to get them, creel limits and fishing regulations, state records
and state fisheries divisions.
Information and Reports, will include everything from angler reports
about fishing in general in that state to bass club reports to state specific
fishing message boards to special state projects. It will also include
a weather forecasts site for that state.
Fishin' Holes will be site specific, listed in alphabetical order.
Here lake fishing reports, guides there, special features and other specific
information will be listed.
Accommodations - Places to Stay and Fish, will give campgrounds,
state and national parks, motel, hotel and bed & breakfast sites and
any other place to stay near a fishing hole. Organizations and Events
show state groups and fishing events scheduled for that state. Miscellaneous
will include everything else from zebra mussel problems to antique fishing
lures.
Remember, all these sections are lists of links to the information. Some states will be extensive - Florida, with its tourism industry and myriad lakes, rivers and streams will be lengthy. Other states with limited freshwater fishing resources will be shorter.
Please give me comments on these lists. If you have a favorite state or country specific site, let me know so I can add it to the lists. All states are being compiled as sites are located, but I will concentrate on one at a time in detail to complete it. Other southern states will be added next. I plan to do states near each other since some have mutual links.
I hope the time I spend sorting through links will save it for you, giving you more time for fishing. Let me know what you think by contacting me at fishing.guide@about.com.
Let me know about your fishing experiences at fishing.guide@about.com. Check out the rest of this site for more fishing info. The Resource List is an annotated list of links.
