3:30 - Near the dam a fish take the shiner and I let the line go tight. When I set the hook I feel the fish for a few seconds but my line goes slack - did not get the hook in its mouth.

3:30 to 5:00 - That was my last shiner and I need some ice for the three dead fish I have, so I went home for ice chest and ice. When I got back I stopped at the upper pond and caught 5 more shiners, and got back to the lower pond a little after 5.

5:35 - Sun sure is hot! I catch a 12 oz bass on the Senko in the tree where the deformed one hit.

5:45 PM - My cork goes under and the line is under the boat. I set the hook and get the line out where I can fight the fish, but I have reeled too much in, the fish is only about six feet out. A 4 pound plus bass jumps clear of the water and splashes me, then dives and makes a strong run. The line breaks - looks like it was kinked or damaged. I wonder if it broke where I forced it into the cork with the stick holding it in place.

6:45 PM - A 1-4 bass hits the Senko by a stump. I look at my Solunar Tables - looks like a minor feeding period started at about 2:00 PM. It sure has been slower since I returned.

7:15 PM - The shiner comes to the top and starts struggling. Something big hits it - reminds me of the strike at a Zara Spook. The bass misses the shiner and does not come back, even tho the shiner is struggling in the water.

7:25 PM - I swing around back to the area where I missed the last fish. The shiner starts swimming on top again and something hits it - and misses. This time when the shiner goes down and starts running, a bass grabs it and my cork pops under. When I set the hook I have a good fish on. It weighs 4 - 7 bass and was - 21 3/4 inches long. It fought harder than any of the others, pulling drag several times. None of the others had done that. It was hooked back in its throat, and I put my whole fist into its mouth to remove the hook. These fish have huge heads!

That was my last fish, I quit fishing at 8:30 without another bite except gnats and mosquitoes!
