"Good to see the pic's, especially the one with the gang together. Thanks for taking a distant shot...seeing all those mugs up close would have been to much...:)"

Weekend X was a success.  Wish everyone had been able to join us!

I drove over Thursday night and got to the lake at about ten pm to find Lip and Donnie in the yard waiting on me. They had fished the Savannah River side of the lake with pretty good luck then drove to Thomson to check into White Columns Inn.  They brought their boats to the lake to leave them in a safer place.

After talking for a time they left and I unloaded, threw out some catfish food and went to bed.

Bright and early the next morning I got a phone call from Al - he was trying to find the trailer.  So I was up by 6:15 getting stuff ready.  Soon after Al arrived JimH came in with MtMan Jim, followed by Lip and Donnie.  After a few minutes of chitchat and a misadventure with a post, they all left to go fishing.  I put out more catfish food and finished getting everything arranged, including putting blocks and pallets at the end of my dock to extend it, and went to put my boat in the water.

When I came around to the trailer and found I  could barely get my boat to the end of the pallets, I left a note for Jack and went fishing.  It was tough but I managed to land five bass between noon and 3 when I headed in.  Four of the five hit a crankbait on the rocky end of a small island.

When I returned to the dock Lip and Donnie had returned and were sitting on the porch talking to Frances.  Jack and she had arrived and he went in to take a nap after the long drive.  Fishing had been tough for Chris and Donnie,. too.

Jack soon joined us and then put his boat in.  We got his fishing gear and went out for a couple of hours in my boat, but the fish just would not cooperate.  We went back in to get ready for supper.

Back at the trailer JimH, Al and MtMan all had the same story - tough fishing.  Terry joined us and  After some enjoyable tale swapping, we started getting ready to fry fish for supper.  Al had brought everything needed and soon we all enjoyed a great meal of crappie filets, french fries, cole slaw and hushpuppies.

After supper we sat around and talked for a while.  The guys staying in town headed back and Jack and Frances went to bed.  So did I, after putting out some more catfish food.
