That is not really a problem with that until you see the formation of groups like PETA, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. A long article about that group is in the April 14th issue of The New Yorker magazine and information about these animal rights people should scare you. These folks are not happy just controlling what they eat, they want to control you, too. And they will go to any extreme to do it. Their cute little campaign "Id rather go naked than wear fur," where models parade around with nothing on but signs, gets a lot of publicity. Less known is their support of terrorism. In The New Yorker article Bruce Friedrich, a PETA leader, is quoted as saying it would be a great thing if fast food outlets, slaughterhouses, labs that use animals to try to cure diseases and banks that fund the above "exploded tomorrow." Unfortunately, there are some animal rights groups that blow up buildings and have injured people in the past. PETA is against any use of animals, from bugs to monkeys, in any way. We should not eat them, experiment with them or even keep them as pets. They often put animals above people, going to the extreme of claiming the death of one lab rat is not justified even if it means finding a cure for cancer. Hunters and fishermen are despised by PETA. They would love to outlaw hunting and fishing completely. Even if animals like deer are so overpopulated they are starving to death, PETA is against hunting them. And they have a campaign claiming fishing is cruel and claim hooking a fish is as bad as hooking a dog with a fish hook. Hunters and fishermen, and most other people, realize humans survive by using animals and plants. Responsible hunters and fishermen eat what they kill and use the resources wisely. We do not waste animals or fish, they are put to good use. I keep waiting for a group called PETP, People for the Ethical Treatment of Plants. Maybe if the PETA folks really stuck with what they believe, they would eliminate themselves. Surely bacteria and viruses are animals that have rights, too. PETA folks should not use the results of animal experimentation and take medicine when they are sick, or take vaccines to prevent diseases. There is another PETA out there - People Eating Tasty Animals. That group is a lot closer to my feelings! Page 1 > Cute Cartoons > Page 1, 2,
