I slept late again Wednesday - I guess I was dreading fishing and working. Since fishing had been so bad for Jim and me, and Donnie and Mike had not had any luck either, I decided to get some chores done at the trailer.  First I got up on the roof and swept the pine straw away, then put up some flashing where the roof was leaking.  I put a fan on the water standing on the screened in porch and then patched the hole in the screen.  Then I tore down the old rotted 8 X8 deck at the front door of the cabin.

By the time I pulled the lawnmower out and found out it would not crank, there was gas in the oil and oil in the gas, it was time to get cleaned up and go to the cabin for supper.  I met Jim and Chris on the lake and they told me about their great day - 14 keepers, including Jim's huge 7 pound, 7 ounce largemouth.  I took some pictures and fished my way to the cabin while Jim and Chris took their boat out of the water.

Donnie was late coming in and Chris started the stew.  Donnie came in and late and told his tale of being visited by a raccoon during the night. It took some of his fishing stuff, we wondered if it was going to open a fishing store.  After Donnie and Chris worked on the stew, we talked and waited on it to get done.  It was great, even if a little hot.  I did not leave the cabin until 9:30 PM and, although the sun had been down for over an hour, the full moon lit the lake so good I ran the 10 miles back to my trailer at 55 MPH.

Thursday morning I got up late again and drove the 15 miles to town for oil for the lawnmower.  I drained out the oil/gas mixture and used it to start a fire with the old deck. Took five hours to burn it up, along with a 40 foot pine that  had fallen during the winter.  Got the lawnmower cranked and it ran fine, so I cut grass until it was time to get ready for pigging out at TJ Outriggers, a seafood buffet.

Donnie's wife Mary and his son and daughter in law, and Mike's girlfriend DeeDee met me, Donnie, Chris and Jim for dinner.  WE all pigged out on great food but ate way too much. It started raining on me on the way back to the trailer, and when I got there the roof was leaking like a sieve.  It was not the joint I fixed that was leaking, I guess the old roll roofing was shot.

Friday morning I got up and finished all the little things around the trailer.  After eating I headed home and pulled in at the house at about 9:00 PM, tired but happy we had safe and fun trip.  Donnie and Mike had a problem loading the boat Saturday and it ended upon the ramp.  Donnie also had a leaking water pump so he headed home, after having a week from hell. Hopefully he will post his story here.  Jim and Chris were to head back to North Carolina on Sunday and then Jim on to Canada from there.

I am already looking forward to next year when we can do it again, just a little bit better. We are talking Santee Cooper. Anybody interested?
