Joke for this Week - A kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom
of children while they drew. She would occasionally walk around to see
each child's artwork. As she came to one little girl who was working diligently,
she asked what the drawing was. The girl replied, "I'm drawing God."
The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like."
Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing the girl replied,
"They will in a minute."

Tip of the Week - Try different lines for different situations -
Some kinds of lines work better in heavy cover, some for finesse fishing.
Try a variety until you find one you like and that works for you. Most
big manufacturers like Stren and Trielene make several kinds for different
applications. Check them out.

Message Boards - Every visit to the Freshwater Fishing Board
- http://fishing.about.com/mpboards.htm
- during the week is eligible for a prize. Each Monday I will put every
visitor's name from one Sunday NOON to
the next in a 'hat' and draw one as the winner. Every log-in will be counted
as one visit, so the more times you visit the board, the more chances you
have to win! The winner will be notified by email and posted here. There
will be one winner per week.
This contest is, of course, an unabashed attempt to get people to use my boards! The only requirement is that posts must be related to fishing. The board is for fishing info so ask a real question, respond with an answer you know, or post information about a trip you took. They can be original posts or responses to posts. All the details and a list of past winners can be found at http://fishing.about.com/library/weekly/blboardcontest.htm
10/3/99 through 10/10/99 - Prize this week,
A bag of plastic worms.

Thought for the Week - This morning I woke up to the unmistakable
scent of pigs in a blanket. That's the price you pay for letting the relatives
stay over.

Fishing The Net - http://fishing.about.com/msubfishnet.htm
- Each week I feature five to ten sites I have found that week. I get them
from newsgroups, email and surfing the net. Check these sites out - they
change each week and are moved to my library of links at the end of each
week. If you have your own site or a favorite that you would like me to
list, email me!

Bonus Joke -A blonde woman who had been unemployed for several months
finally got a job with Public Works. This was a little old town, so her
job was to paint lines down the center of a rural road using a paint brush.
The Supervisor told her that she was on probation and that she must stay
at or above the set minimum of 2 miles per day of lines. The blonde agrees
and starts right away. The Supervisor checked at the end of day one and
found that the blonde had completed 4 miles, double the required average.
The next day, however, he was disappointed to find that the blonde only
accomplished 2 miles. The Supervisor thought, "Well, she's at the
average and I don't want to discourage her, so I'll just keep quiet."
The third day, the blonde only did one mile and the boss thought, "I
need to talk to her before this gets worse." The boss called the blonde
in and said, "The first day you did 4 miles, the second day 2 miles
and yesterday only 1 mile. Why? Is there an injury? A problem? Equipment
failure? What's keeping you from meeting the minimum 2 miles per day?"
The blonde replied, "Well, each day I keep getting farther and farther
away from the paint bucket!"
