Joke for this Week - Horseback Riding - blonde who has never ridden
before and has never had lessons decides that she is going to go horseback
riding. She mounts the horse unassisted and immediately the horse starts
to gallop at a nice steady pace. The blonde, however, is bouncing from
side-to-side. She tries to grab the horses mane, but she can't get a secure
hold. Then she leans forward and throws her arms around the horses neck.
All to no avail. The horse gallops on oblivious to its riders plight. The
blonde starts to slip from the saddle and his holding on to the side of
the horse. Finally, she decides to throw herself free. Unfortunately, her
foot gets caught in the stirrup and as the horse gallops on, her head is
banging up and down on the ground. Just as she's about to lose consciousness,
her quarter ran out.

try to be there from about 8 to 10 EDT most nights - Check it out for chatters
between 8 and 9 in your time zone.

enter on and float the chat window. You can
go do something else and your computer will beep when someone enters the

Tip of the Week - Wear sunscreen, light colored clothes and dip
a small towel in the water and put it around your neck. Also get a wide
brim hat - one that shades your whole head, neck and ears, not just your
face. Those will help you fish this time of year if you insist on going
fishing during the day!
======================================
Message Boards - You will have to re-register for the new boards.
If you sign up to join, you should be registered for the new boards. If
you have problems, let me know.
Every visit to the Freshwater Fishing Board - http://fishing.about.com/mpboards.htm - during the week is eligible for a prize. Each Monday I will put every visitor's name from one Sunday NOON to the next in a 'hat' and draw one as the winner. Every log-in will be counted as one visit, so the more times you visit the board, the more chances you have to win! The winner will be notified by email and posted here. There will be one winner per week.
This contest is, of course, an unabashed attempt to get people to use my boards! The only requirement is that posts must be related to fishing. The board is for fishing info so ask a real question, respond with an answer you know, or post information about a trip you took. They can be original posts or responses to posts. All the details and a list of past winners can be found at http://fishing.about.com/library/weekly/blboardcontest.htm
7/25/99 through 8/15/99 - Prize this week,
contest suspended while I am on vacation! ;)
======================================
Upcoming Events - There is a calendar of events on my site - http://fishing.about.com/mevents.htm
- where I list any event I can find related to fishing. I have also posted
notes about this site - when articles will be updated, chat topics, fishtales
and other things. If you have any event you would like posted there, please
email me. I can post them years in advance!

Thought for the Week - Ever wonder what the speed of lightning would
be if it didn't zigzag?
=======================================
Fishing The Net - http://fishing.about.com/msubfishnet.htm
- Each week I feature five to ten sites I have found that week. I get them
from newsgroups, email and surfing the net. Check these sites out - they
change each week and are moved to my library of links at the end of each
week. If you have your own site or a favorite that you would like me to
list, email me!
======================================
Bonus Joke - My friend was on duty in the main lab on a quiet afternoon.
He noticed a young woman sitting in front of one of the workstations with
her arms crossed across her chest, staring at the screen. After about 15
minutes he noticed that she was still in the same position, only now she
was impatiently tapping her foot. He asked if she needed help and replied
"It's about time! I pressed the F1 button over twenty minutes ago!"
