This Week's Feature: - Fishing Line- http://fishing.about.com/library/weekly/aa102698.htm
- How to choose a line that is best for your fishing needs.
=======================================
Tip of the Week - Learn to read lake maps and get one for the lake
you are planning to fish. They will help you find areas like flats and
sharp drops that hold fish, and will help you get to the place you want
to fish, and back!
======================================
Fishtale This Week: - Shallow Cranking the Docks, Part 1- http://fishing.about.com/library/weekly/bl981026.htm
- Jim Pope's article on how he and a friend discovered a way to catch
fish under docks with crankbaits. Part 2 next week.
======================================
Message Boards - Every post to the Freshwater
Fishing Board - http://fishing.about.com/mpboards.htm
- during the week is eligible for a prize. Each Monday I will put every
post from one Sunday midnight to the next in a 'hat' and draw one as the
winner. The winner will be notified by email and posted here. There will
be one winner per week.
This contest is, of course, an unabashed attempt to get people to use my boards! The only requirement is that posts must be related to fishing. The board is for fishing info so ask a real question, respond with an answer you know, or post information about a trip you took. They can be original posts or responses to posts. I will use the 'Show Post from 1 week' button to select the posts for the contest. All the details and a list of past winners can be found at http://fishing.about.com/library/weekly/blboardcontest.htm
10/26/98 through 11/1/98 - Prize - Tackle grab
bag - A crankbait, a spinnerbait, a pack of curly tail jigs, two Granddaddy's
bucktails and a pack of Zoom Big Critter Craws from Berry's
Sporting Goods in Griffin, GA..
======================================
Upcoming Events - There is a calendar of events on my site - http://fishing.about.com/mevents.htm
- where I list any event I can find related to fishing. I have also posted
notes about this site - when articles will be updated, chat topics, fishtales
and other things. If you have any event you would like posted there, please
email me. I can post them years in advance!

Joke for this Week - A man was speeding down the highway, feeling
secure in a gaggle of cars all traveling at the same speed. However, as
they passed a speed trap, he got nailed with an infrared speed detector
and was pulled over. The officer handed him the citation, received his
signature and was about to walk away when the man asked, 'Officer, I know
I was speeding, but I don't think it's fair - there were plenty of '>other
cars around me who were going just as fast, so why did *I* get the ticket?'
'Ever go fishing?' the policeman suddenly asked the man. 'Ummm, yeah...'
the startled man replied. The officer grinned and added, 'Ever catch *all*
the fish?'

Thought for the Week - I used to be indecisive - now I am not so
sure.

Bass Chasers International - http://fishing.about.com/library/weekly/blclub.htm
- Join our virtual bass fishing club. Just forming, there are no dues
right now. We need your input at this point on club rules, how to have
tournaments and other areas. We plan to set up tournaments where you can
win free tackle.

Right Click Trick - Having trouble bookmarking a site you find through
The Mining Co because the URL doesn't show? This is a problem with
frames. Right click your mouse and the page url you are viewing should
show. Then you can copy it and book mark it. Sorry for the trouble.

Bonus Joke - It was a hot and humid July afternoon, when I decided
to visit my girlfriend Susie. She is blonde and beautiful, but sometimes
she is, shall we say, lacking in some areas. Well, Susie had decided to
paint her kitchen. I thought she might appreciate a break so I brought
some cold Pepsi and sandwiches. When I arrived, I found Susie working hard
painting the kitchen. But instead of wearing grubby clothes, she was wearing
her fur coat and her ski parka. I asked her why she was dressed that way
on such a hot day. She showed me the paint instructions. It read, 'Two
coats for best results'
