Site of the Week - Autocast - http://www.chambec.com/autokast.html - A remote controlled boat for taking your lure to the fish! Brad mentioned this site in chat and posted about it and others on the board. Check it out and comment to his 8/5/98 thread on the board. Thanks Brad!
=====================================
Bass Chasers International - http://fishing.about.com/library/weekly/blclub.htm - Join our virtual bass fishing club. Just forming, there are no dues right now. We need your input at this point on club rules, how to have tournaments and other areas.
=====================================

Always open, I host on most Wednesday nights from 8 to 9 pm.
Drop in chats every night from 8 to 9 pm. I try to be there from about 8 to 10 EDT most nights - Check it out for chatters between 8 and 9 in your time zone.
NOTE - If you drop in and no one is there, type
*beep enter on and float the chat window. You can go do something else and your computer will beep when someone enters the room.. Email me if you are having problems getting in.

Site Update - This week I want to focus on crappie fishing sites on the net. My library of links is too limited so I will be adding to it. If you have a site you like that is about crappie fishing, please email the url to me so I can include it!
======================================
This Week's Feature: -Cleaning Fish - http://fishing.about.com/library/weekly/aa080398.htm - Step by step filet methods I use, with pictures!
=======================================
Tip of the Week - Sharpen your hooks! A dull hook will cause you to lose a fish. Some of the newer super sharp hooks are ok right out of the pack, but most need sharpening even when brand new. All hooks get dull after a few casts so keep a sharpener handy. A small file works good on most hooks and there are sharpners made just for hooks. Don't lose that wall hanger or tournament winner because of a dull hook!
======================================
Fishtale This Week: - Growing Old by David Bass - http://fishing.about.com/library/weekly/bl980803.htm - We all get older and it gets harder to see the knots we are tying.
======================================
Message Boards - Every post to the Freshwater Fishing Board - http://fishing.about.com/mpboards.htm - during the week is eligible for a prize. Each Monday I will put every post from one Sunday midnight to the next in a 'hat' and draw one as the winner. The winner will be notified by email and posted here. There will be one winner per week.

This contest is, of course, an unabashed attempt to get people to use my boards! The only requirement is that posts must be related to fishing. The board is for fishing info so ask a real question, respond with an answer you know, or post information about a trip you took. They can be original posts or responses to posts. I will use the 'Show Post from 1 week' button to select the posts for the contest. All the details and a list of past winners can be found at http://fishing.about.com/library/weekly/blboardcontest.htm

8/3/98 through 8/10/98 - Prize - A black Bluebird Original Equipment cap.
======================================
Upcoming Events - BASS Master's Classic - There is a calendar of events on my site - http://fishing.about.com/mevents.htm - where I list any event I can find related to fishing. The Classic is listed this week with a link to that site. I have also posted notes about this site - when articles will be updated, chat topics, fishtales and other things. If you have any event you would like posted there, please email me. I can post them years in advance!

Joke for this Week - Green Side Up!

A woman hired a contractor to repaint the interior of her house. The woman walked the man through the second floor of her home and told him what colors she wanted for each room. As they walked through the first room, the woman said, "I think I would like this room in a cream color." The contractor wrote on his clipboard, walked to the window, opened it and yelled out, "Green side up!" He then closed the window and continued following the woman to the next room. The woman looked confused, but proceeded with her tour.

"In this room, I was thinking of an off blue." Again, the contractor wrote this down, went to the window, opened it and yelled out, "Green side up!" This baffled the woman, but she was hesitant to say anything.

In the next room, the woman said she would like it painted in a light rose color. And once more, the contractor opened the window and yelled, "Green side up!"

Struck with curiosity, the woman mustered up the nerve to ask, "Why do you keep yelling 'Green side up' out my window every time I tell you the color I would like the room?" The contractor replied, "Because I have a crew of blondes laying sod across the street."

Thought for the Week - . If the enemy is in range, so are you.

HELP - The Mining Co. is making a major effort to insure we are providing the best possible sites for you. I want to have a site that gives anyone looking for info on fishing what they want - and make it easy to find. This should be easy for the beginner fisherman and beginner net user as well as you pro fishermen and internet users that have been around since it started.

Please look over my site and tell me what you think. What do I need to add? Is my library of links - http://fishing.about.com/mlibrary.htm - easy to use, does it provide the info you want, how could I make it better? How about other things like this newsletter, 'fishtales,' weekly articles, chat, boards and contests. Is my home page - http://fishing.about.com/ - easy to understand and follow? Please let me know!!!
======================================
Right Click Trick - Having trouble bookmarking a site you find through The Mining Co because the URL doesn't show? This is a problem with frames. Right click your mouse and the page url you are viewing should show. Then you can copy it and book mark it. Sorry for the trouble.
======================================
WEBMASTERS and site owners - please use this newsletter as a reminder to check your link from Freshwater Fishing. Let me know what you think of my comments about your site. Keep me informed of updates and changes, especially URL changes. I would appreciate a link from your site. Also, check out my chat room at http://fishing.about.com/mpchat.htm. The chat room is always open. Contact me if you would like to set up a chat schedule for your site that you would host.
======================================
I hope you find the Freshwater Fishing Newsletter useful. If you do not want to receive any more issues, you can either go to http://fishing.about.com/gi/pages/mmail.htm
and unscribe, or hit reply, type UNSCRIBE in the message area and hit send. I will remove you from the list. You can also subscribe at this same address.
